- Check terminals first: tight, clean, no green fuzz
- Note what died together — everything, or just one circuit
- If you have a meter: resting battery under 12.0V is discharged, under 11V is hurt
- Kill suspicious loads (inverter, fridge on 12V) and see if the drain stops
